In many states, Fishing Opener is a richly traditional event. Beyond the fact that it marks the end of winter and beginning of another year on the lake, Fishing Opener is rich in family tradition. It is typical to see multiple generations loading up gear on the dock, a grandfather helping his grandson rig up his pole while saying something like “I helped your Dad do this when he was your age.”
